Ruth Asawa, San Francisco's favorite artist and most fervent advocate of arts education, is being honored by the United States Postal Service with a set of Forever stamps. The stamps will go on sale nationwide August 13, 2020 and are available for pre-order prior to that at www.usps.com/asawa.
The stamps showcase Asawa's classic, airy wire sculptures photographed by Laurence Cuneo and Dan Bradica for David Zwirner gallery.
For you philatelists, additional information about First-Day-of-Issue Postmark or First-Day Covers can be found here.
Permanent installations of these sculptures can be found around the world, including this exhibit at the de Young Museum where she served as a trustee for eight years.
