Works by Marilyn Minter

Sr. Editor

Minter started out taking pictures of her drug-addicted mother in Florida.  She then became interested in hardcore pornographic imagery, asking the viewer if those kinds of images change when they are presented by a woman.  She believes wholeheartedly that ladies should be allowed to look at freaky loving, too.

Minter became famous for her photographs that combined erotic images of bodies with the high-gloss advertorial content of fashion magazines.  Advertising was always of interest to her; in 1990 she aired a television commercial called 100 Food Porn to promote her gallery show. It aired on late-night television, giving an eyeful to viewers of Letterman, and Arsenio Hall (lol, remember him?) She was the first artist to ever take out a TV ad.

She’s better known now for these glamour shots than her early XXX stuff, but you’re sure to still notice the sexual undercurrents in her pictures.  Lucky us.
