More about Hollywood Is A Verb
Contributor
“Hollywood is a verb” is one of the only universal truths to ever be incorporated into art.
The only flaw in this statement is that Hollywood is actually many verbs. For example, "Hollywood" can mean:
- To become allergic to something (gluten, dairy, sugar etc.)
- The act of basing self-worth on the number of Instagram followers you have
- The act of being unwilling to drive from downtown to Santa Monica during rush hour
- The act of combining “spirituality” (yoga, meditation, astrology, etc.) with alcohol or prescription medication
- The act of fearing rain
- To confide in your Uber driver while intoxicated
- Any action associated with Botox
- To do a juice cleanse
- To cheat on a juice cleanse
- To be a part of “the industry”
- Pretending to be vegan
- Making your dog be a vegan
- Taking pictures in front of colorful walls
- Chasing a shot of vodka with kombucha
- Being a freelance writer, actor and a barista
- To have an anxiety disorder
- Having a psychic in your favorites
- To brunch
- Avoiding LAX at all costs
- SoulCycle.
In one work of art, Ed Ruscha brought to attention all of the neuroses and hypocrisies that Hollywooders have been burying deep down, attempting to smother with macrobiotic foods for years. In other words, he is the therapist of an entire city.
