Ready for day in the park at the Kröller-Müller Museum surrounded by art from around the world?

The Kröller-Müller is an impressive collection of big-name artists from around the world, including Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, and Piet Mondrian. It’s also the home of the second larges collection of Vincent van Gogh works in the world, featuring 90 paintings and over 180 drawings by the famous artist.
Creating the Kröller-Müller Museum has been the life-long passion of Helene Kröller-Müller. Between 1907 and 1922, she and her husband, Anton Kröller-Müller, made it their job to seek out and collect fine works of art. Together they accumulated almost 11,500 works of art and effectively built themselves one of the larges private art collections of the 20th century. On July 13, 1938, the museum officially opened in a building designed by the Belgian architect, Henry van de Velde. Later the pair added an additional wing to the museum, designed by Dutch architect, Wim Quist.

After a train ride in to Amsterdam and a quick bus-ride you’ll find yourself at De Hoge Veluwe National Park. The park does require an additional fee (aside from the museum’s entrance fee) to enter, but with that fee you are given complementary bikes to ride through the park and the museum’s 25 hectre (61.75 acres) sculpture garden, which is woven throughout the nature of the Netherlands and features more than 160 works from artists around the world. It is one of Europe’s largest sculpture gardens. Just be careful and keep the kids out of the bushes; there are ticks everywhere!
Speaking of the kids, this is an extremely family-friendly museum. Upon arrival, the museum offers several different games for children and parents to play during their visit to the museum. All games are designed to get the kids engaged and moving through the museum while getting to learn about art. None of their games are designed to be solely applicable to the Kröller-Müller museum, either. The games can be used again at other museums around the world.
This is definitely not a destination sight that can be passed up.
