More about Prince Heinrich Lubomirski as the Genius of Fame

Once upon a time, a baby was born.  This baby was special, because this baby was beautiful. This baby was Prince Heinrich.

Now, I’m not saying that all babies aren’t beautiful, but a lot of them have that ugly-beautiful thing going on...like a really cute pug.  But this baby was straight up gorgeous.  So gorgeous, in fact, that his distant aunt was completely enamored with him.  She became so obsessed that she adopted him and raised him as her own, which is pretty weird. Also creepy is the fact she paraded him around like a circus freak. Poor baby Prince H was dragged around town like a trophy because he was too gosh darn pretty.  To this day, he is known as "the most beautiful boy in the world."  That’s a heavy weight for such dainty shoulders.

This painting is one of many art pieces Duchess Izabela Lubomirska commisioned of her nephew.  Louise Vigée le Brun actually painted three versions of Heinrich as the Genius of Fame. But she wasn’t being so nice as to say that Heinrich was both beautiful and super smart.  Given the wings, he is probably depicted as the ancient Roman version of a genius, which is more like a guiding spirit.

There isn’t much information about our golden boy, other than the fact that he was really, really, really, ridiculously good looking. Eventually he got married, but I have a sneaking suspicion that something weird was happening with that aunt. You know what they say about royal families...
