It looks like abandoned machinery in a factory but Music Power II is actually made of slick cellos cast in bronze.

It's an eye catcher. Each time I walk through the glass tunnel connecting the original and new wings of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, my eyes are drawn to this brown tower that shimmers in the Middle Eastern sun.

Perhaps it's because the cellos are all busted-up, like those guitars Jimi Hendrix used to smash in live performances.

Back in the 60's, Arman created innovative experimental music using various household objects, and he has strong ties to the music world, including through his musician wife Eliane Radigue. I suspect that this piece is a protest against the tech-y way music is produced nowadays, often without real instruments and by repeating beats on a computer.
