The National Gallery of Modern Art, Bengaluru was inaugurated in 2009 as the third National Gallery in India. It houses some of the most prominent painters of Indian culture such as Nicholas Roerich, Amrita Sher-Gil, and Jamini Roy. The collection houses sculpture, paintings, early photography, and graphic prints that have shaped the modern movement in India. And if you’re one of those people who blows through museums in 30 minutes, the National Gallery has a tranquil garden shaded by trees with a mirror pool where you can slow down and think about how fast you went through that museum that some had really beautiful, interesting art in it. You can ask yourself why you went so quickly. Are you lying to yourself when you say that art just isn’t your thing? What is it that you’re really running from? Your emotions? Dreams? When is the last time that something made you really feeeel?
